Got ‘Em!

While at Gen Con, our first print run of Got ‘Em sold out! This was a great achievement for the whole team and especially for game designer, Zach Weisman, who was at Gen Con with the Calliope Games team.

As this we are looking into the future for making a new print, we will also be updating the artwork! The box cover and card art will be getting a fresh new feel! The changes being made to the cards is also great because it allows the cards to be more universal. No more text, but instead, images of what your actions are.

Our plan is to have the next print run available in 2017. So keep an eye out for stores to be carrying this new version of Got ‘Em!

PAX West and Grand Con

The next two conventions that we will be attending are PAX West, in Seattle, WA and Grand Con in Grand Rapids, MI.

At PAX, we will be partnering with Uncle’s Games to have a table where we will be demoing our Titan Series games in room 214. We will also have Giant Tsuro available for everyone to play. PAX West will be at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington from September 2-5th.

August Success

We’re already halfway through August and Calliope Games has been having some great successes! With new games in the works, more conventions to go to, and finishing touches being put on games – we have great things to show you!

If you haven’t been to the toy and games section of Target recently, boy have we got news for you! As of August 1st, 2016, Roll For It! (purple and red editions) have been released into Target stores. These new versions of Roll For It! include a drawstring bag, new colorful opaque dice, and a viewing window in the box. This allows for the game to be even more portable and affordable for everyone who already loves the game!

While we were at Gen Con in Indianapolis, we completely sold out of Got ‘Em! by Zach Weisman! As the Calliope team was packing for Gen Con, we found out that we only had 13 copies left of the game. Zach himself was helping out at the booth, and it was so great to have him there to show off his game and to experience the moment when we sold out! Now that we have run out – it’s time to start reprinting! But this time, there will be new artwork – so stay tuned!

Gen Con 2016 | August 4-7, Indianapolis

As many of you know, we have been working on our Titan Series games. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Titan Series, it is an upcoming collection of gateway games by the some of the industry’s best game designers.  Ray Wehrs, President of Calliope Games, invited well-known game designers like Richard Garfield, Eric Lang, and Jordan Weisman (to name a few) to create games that fit within the Calliope wheelhouse — easy-to-learn, quick to play, accessible to all ages and levels of game experience, and above all, lots of fun! The idea is to offer you gateway games designed by your favorite designers! That way you can share your love for board games by your favorite designers with family and friends… and not have to worry about scaring them away!

Calliope will be demoing the first wave of three Titan Series games at Gen Con this year: Running With The Bulls by Paul Peterson, Hive Mind by Richard Garfield, and Menu Masters by Zach & Jordan Weisman. Each of these games are expected to be released in stores this September. Along with the Titan Series games, we will also be demoing all other Calliope titles in booth #1901.

Players who have had an opportunity to demo the Titan Series games at Origins and TexiCon have had a blast playing them! We are excited to be working together with your FLGS (Favorite Local Game Store) as we move toward their availability in the fall!

We are also very excited to tell you about the Calliope Games button collection. For the very first time at Gen Con this year, attendees who stop by our booth #1901 and play/demo one of our games will receive a collectible button that corresponds with that game! If an attendee collects all 11 buttons, they will receive a special Titan Series lapel pin!

We at Calliope Games want to help make this the best Gen Con ever for gamers!  Drop by booth #1901 and be the first to play some new games with your friends before they hit store shelves! We’ll also have some incredible deals at the booth that will make sure your gaming library is the best in town!

Come Play With Me!

When my daughter Nicki was born back on Dec 22, 1998 my wife and I put a lot of thought into the nursery. We wanted Nicki to be comfortable and entertained. We dismantled a Peter Rabbit alphabet book and mounted the pages as a border all around the room. We all loved the images and the story that went with them. We also set up a desk for Nicki to play at… on the top I wrote this poem:

Come Play with Me. The more I Play, the more I Learn. The more I Learn, the more I’ll Earn. The more I Earn, the more I’ll Play. Come Play with Me.

This year Nicki will turn 13… how time flies! I can’t tell you how proud I am of her. Being challenged most of her life with an autoimmune disease (ITP) she always wears a smile. She reads a novel a week and excels at the top of her class. She is my hero and why I always want to play. (OK, one of the many reasons I always want to play : )

Play Games, they’re a lot of Fun and you’ll be surprised how much you can learn. Calliope Games Supersized Family Fun!
